Purpose

Select how in-scope AI systems are discovered, tagging each candidate by how it was found.

Why it matters

Recording HOW each system was found (discovery_source) gives provenance for every candidate.

Runs in the Customer AI Governance platform (components: onboarding). Each candidate is written with a discovery_source tag; connector integrations are gated off until Phase 3. Learn teaches this read-only.

Worked example

A candidate system appears with no discovery_source tag. What went wrong?

It entered outside the chosen discovery methods — every candidate must be tagged by how it was discovered.

Given discovery methods, when they are run, then candidates are tagged by discovery_source and automated connectors stay disabled.

Common pitfalls

  • Expecting automated connectors here — they are deliberately disabled in Phase 1 (manual reuse/upload/questionnaire only).
